Back in February of 2008 The Ethers participated in the RPM challenge, where you write, record, mix and master a complete 10 song album within 28 days. The result was an album called ...and vice versa. It was great fun and some good spontaneous songs came out of it. This was probably my favorite lyrically. Somehow the words came out fully formed within a few minutes. It was also the 3rd part to a 3 song suite at the end of the album.
This version is actually very similar to the version on ...and vice versa, just without all the band's vocals, guitars, bells and such (all the Danielson Famile mockup). This performance is a bit more urgent to me as well.
This was tracked at Headphone Treats live on camera.
lyrics
Please Come Back To Me (Oliver's Suite Pt 3)
please come back to me
please come back to me
crumpled here waiting
for sunlight to touch me
please come back to me
please come back to me
branches and window panes
laughingly arching away
please come back to me
please come back to me
twilight's in sight
and I can't stand another night
baby dry your tears
on the patchwork of fears
all the neatly stitched lines
I should've never crossed
never crossed
into frame of mind
tainted youth
time left behind
feeling wanted by the blindness
of innocence
in a sense
I've been panic bound
by routine and petty groundless
yearning over your desire
I should never doubt
never doubt
I'll hold on to these moments
present tense unbroken penance
please come back to me
I should've never lost
never lost you

Jimmy Ether - Vocals and Archtop. Lyrics and tune. Aurally Chronicled live to audio and video.
Soothing vocals to sporadic, angular, beats & warm synth tones. Great melody & harmony. Just experimental enough, but accessible. Think Bjork meets Broadcast. Check out the "Chase No Face" video, too. Jimmy Ether
